Loft Zen Bordeaux

The garden felt unwelcoming and badly in need of renovation, and though the room was spacious, there wasn't a pleasant view. The photos are far from reality. The breakfast room and kitchenette seemed clearly unhygienic, and the owner appeared jaded and didn't hide it. The initial greeting message had to be corrected through our tour operator. Otherwise, nobody was there to meet us, just a key box. A shame for guests expecting much better.

Breakfast was generous, and the walk from the bedrooms to the living room where it’s served is quite striking. Eliane is a really welcoming host. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom has everything you need. The decor is unusual, and there’s a small garden with a slightly wild feel. It’s a peaceful, somewhat tucked-away spot that’s still close to the center. Free parking is about 30 meters away. A lovely place to discover.

Free parking nearby is a rare bonus in Bordeaux, where parking downtown can cost €30-€35 for four hours. The loft itself was fine, and the hostess was very friendly, though she speaks only a little English. Breakfast was included, a typical French spread prepared by her. The showers are individual and quite good, but the bathroom is shared. It’s also not especially close to the center.

Booking directly on the Loft Zen website was really easy, and we’d be happy to return. It’s a lovely, peaceful house on the outskirts of Bordeaux, a good base for enjoying the city and its activities. We were warmly welcomed and had a generous breakfast. Do ask about the room arrangements, as some have shared toilets and showers.
