Mercure Bordeaux Gare Atlantic Hotel

The location was perfect, close to all the tourist attractions, and the rooms were clean. We had a great stay, with very polite staff. Thank you, Mr. Sasha from reception, for the warm welcome and all your help.

The bed and pillows were amazing. Reception was helpful, and the main strip is close enough to walk to for shopping, a stroll, a show, or a museum.

The room was modern and roomy enough, with a mezzanine level, and the shower had good pressure. Front desk staff were pleasant, polite, and spoke very good English. Housekeeping did a great job keeping things tidy. We stayed four nights recently, and the location worked well for arriving and leaving by train. A couple of tram lines are close by, and the city centre is walkable. We also found it safe and generally quiet. The main issue was the air conditioning. It only had a heating setting, which we didn't need yet, and no fan-only ventilation, so the room felt stuffy and hot. Noise insulation was another problem. Some nights we could hear people going up and down the mezzanine stairs next door quite loudly, which disturbed our sleep. It didn't happen every night and probably depended on how heavy-footed people were. It was a good hotel, but those two things affected the stay and our sleep.

We got an unexpected upgrade to a spacious, well-appointed two-floor suite, which was a lovely surprise. Breakfast was ample and gave us what we needed for an easy start each day. The location near the train and tram stations made getting around simple. From Amelie's warm welcome through checkout, the staff were always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We were thrilled with the hotel and would easily stay again.
