Really good location and such accommodating, welcoming hosts. It would be helpful to add safety features for older guests and people with disabilities, like handrails on the stairs.

The food was a highlight for me, especially breakfast. The flavors were great, everything tasted fresh, and I loved having it brought to my room so I could eat while looking out at that wonderful landscape. The menu mixes Caribbean and modern food in some bold, creative ways. The lodges sit in nature, with pools in different sizes depending on the room, and a great view over Bouillante. It’s cozy, simple, peaceful, and a lovely place to properly disconnect and rest. The staff were very kind and helpful, which felt rare for the region. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, which was a shame. Still, it pushed us to slow down, enjoy the moment, and stay off social media. If you’re in the area, I’d pick this place. You’ll fall for it quickly.

The terrace was easily the best part of our stay. We had the larger room, so it came with a bigger terrace and pool, plus a dining table and loungers. The view was breathtaking, with open sunsets, boats, pelicans, hummingbirds, and more. After all our hikes, the little pool was just right for cooling off. Inside, the room looked lovely and had plenty of space, but some practical things were off. The double bed seemed oddly small for a room this size. My feet hung over the end, and I nearly rolled off several times because I was trying not to squash my partner. There was a king-size pullout couch, but we left it closed since we didn’t want to aggravate our back problems. The shower looked great until we realized using it meant flooding the whole bathroom. Small issues, but noticeable. There isn’t much nearby. The restaurant by the beach was awful, so that fits the picture. Franco's BBQ is about a five-minute walk, and Coeur de Pigeon pizza is another five minutes down the road. Both were great, and there’s a sidewalk all the way. Driving has its own drawbacks: you miss out on punch, and parking is French-style, so bring an ugly car. The grounds felt a bit desert-like, which was odd and somewhat depressing on an island with tropical forest. It didn’t matter much since we only crossed them to get to our door. On the deck, wear flip-flops because the worn teak has splinters and lifted fibers. The umbrella was there, at least, but it was in rough shape and missing screws. Bring a screwdriver if you want to fix it. The internet was the worst I’ve seen in years. Email worked, and that was about it. Front desk service was variable depending on who was there. One person spoiled that part of the experience, especially arriving after a long flight and drive. Management could use checklists and some basic courtesy training. Room service, on the other hand, was spot on every time, and we never even saw them. Perfect. I took a while to think this review through because I really wanted to love the hotel. With all that said, I think I do. Would I come back? Yes.

It’s expensive, but that view at sunset is worth it! 🌅
