The car park entrance looked impossibly narrow, but our Honda CRV made it through. We were glad to have secure parking, though we hadn’t realised we were supposed to book and were lucky to get a spot. Breakfast was plentiful and good, served in a very attractive bar. Our room was very small, as you might expect in an old building, so bear that in mind if you like more space. The small bathroom had modern fittings and was perfectly adequate. This feels more like a family-run hotel than part of a huge chain. Its location just across the road from the picturesque walled old town can’t be beaten, and our room had a beautiful view of the magnificent cathedral. If you’re after luxury, you may be disappointed, but for a great location, lovely people and a decent standard, you can’t go wrong.

The breakfast was a real highlight, very good indeed. The rooms are rather basic, but the service was good, and the location near the old walled part of town is excellent, with its many restaurants.

We had a lovely stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was fresh and tasty, and the clean rooms were comfortable for the price. The location right beside the old town is great. In one room, the mattress topper was sunken, so I felt like I was rolling off the bed. There was no tea or coffee setup in the room either. The road is noisy, which makes leaving the windows open difficult, and given the location, I think air conditioning really should be installed.

The restaurant is really nice, and just across the road there’s a cool old castle and the city walls. It’s about a 30-minute walk to the seafront in the main town. The hotel is in a great spot, with very clean, fresh rooms and lovely staff. Parking can be a bit confusing: there are free parallel spaces if you can find one, or a paid car park across the road. It’s only 30-odd minutes from the Channel Tunnel, making it an ideal final-night stop before heading back to the UK.

We paid extra for a premium room, which gave us a little fridge and more space. The kids’ standard rooms were still good and had cathedral views. Our own room was nice but warm, though fans were provided. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The hotel is right next to the lovely walled town and its restaurants. We’d recommend both the hotel and Boulogne itself. They were a pleasant surprise.
