We booked a year ahead for a family get-together planned for July, but the trip never happened. Our deposit came back four weeks before we were due to travel, when the booking was cancelled. I later understood the property had to close because of the owner's health, though booking sites still show it, so be cautious if you're considering a reservation. The owner was kind and tried to help us find another place, but the requested concierge help took a week to get in touch, so we had to sort things out ourselves.

The old town is a great place for a stop before the tunnel, and the accommodation there is superb. Emmanuel has done a lovely renovation on the house. We enjoyed the town too and will be back.

The host made us feel that nothing was too much trouble, and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms are unusual and the location is great. It was a memorable stay, and all the praise is deserved.

We were only there as a stop on the way back to the Eurotunnel after a car rally, but the setting turned out to be a great base for seeing Boulogne, right inside the old town walls and beneath the cathedral. My friend and I are already talking about returning with our wives just to stay here again. Emmanuel welcomed us and showed us around his beautiful home. The self-contained apartment sits across a lovely courtyard, with two excellent double bedrooms, a nice bathroom, and a kitchen and sitting area downstairs. The decor is exquisite, and Emmanuel is a wonderful host. Breakfast was laid out in the courtyard in the morning, the best continental breakfast I've ever had. At first I wondered if all the glowing reviews could be real, but the stay made it clear. Thanks again, Emmanuel! Richard & James (in the old Alfa Romeo!)

Everything you need is just around the corner, and the suite feels authentic and romantic. It may be the best place in town, though there's only one suite available.
