Les Pilotis Du Cognac

We stayed for a wedding on a hot weekend in June, and the hosts made us exceptionally comfortable. Our arrival in bourg Charente was delayed, but they waited to check us in and couldn’t have been more helpful. The campsite is in a stunning location, and the mobile homes are very comfortable, with air conditioning and a hotel-like feel. Hospitality was exceptional, and breakfast was delicious. Very much recommend!

I can't fault this place. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and very private, and the spa was a lovely treat. The scenic ride along the river to the centre took about 30 minutes by bike. They’ve created an amazing venue.

The small pool was a great place to relax on the hottest days, and we made use of the BBQs almost every evening. A couple of things could be improved: it would be nice for the cabins to have their own BBQ tools, and the pastries delivered with breakfast were sometimes under baked, though the bread was excellent. We ordered breakfast each evening by WhatsApp, and Frank brought it to our door. He was often around to check how we were doing and suggest places to visit. Take his advice about the Cognac Distillery, where the local producer offers a better experience than the big houses. We stayed in the cosy cottage, a lovely lodge with good facilities and essential air conditioning, while our friends had a motorhome. The lodges are excellent value. Frank lent us bikes for the ride to Cognac, and we enjoyed a riverside walk to Jarnac, so we didn’t need to use the car. Jarnac is a lovely market town. We hired a small boat there, picnicked, and perhaps had a few glasses of vino on the river. On our last day, we avoided the car before the long drive home with some beautiful local walks and a delicious lunch at the local golf course. The site is between Cognac and Jarnac, and its small size made for a peaceful rural retreat with top notch service. Frank and Martine gave us a warm welcome and made for a fabulous week. I was very pleased with my stay here. Martine and Franck gave me a warm welcome and were always available if I needed help. The pitches and sanitary facilities were clean, spacious, and well maintained, and the facilities and activities went beyond what I expected. I highly recommend this campsite for a relaxing, enjoyable holiday.
