ibis Bourg En Bresse

The room was very hot because the AC didn’t work, and the window barely opened. Some kind of air freshener made the place stink. The restaurant had run out of a few dishes, and the hotel was in poor repair. I think there may have been a flood once and that it wasn’t properly fixed afterward. Terrible hotel.

Even with us arriving very late and leaving very early, the staff were friendly, professional, and accommodating. Randa went well above what was expected. She was like an angel during a really stressful time in our travels, and I’ll never forget how kind she was. The staff and service at this hotel were excellent.

The breakfast was pretty basic, with only scrambled egg and bacon in the hot section. I’d have liked sausage or potatoes, like hashbrowns, and if I stayed again, I wouldn’t get breakfast here. The rooms are a bit small, like prisons have larger rooms, though that’s only what I’ve seen on TV. For the money, it’s okay.

The hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable, and the rooms worked well for an overnight stop. It’s beside a retail park, so having a petrol station nearby was useful the next morning. The staff were friendly, too. We wouldn’t eat at the restaurant again, though. My lasagne portion looked more like a meal for a five-year-old; my wife’s pasta was an okay size but nothing special for the price. Even a small bottle of water cost nearly £5, or €4.80.
