Altezza Arc 1800 Hotel & Spa

The valley view was the one real bright spot during our six nights at Altezza Arc 1800. I got food poisoning from the Christmas Eve dinner and spent Christmas Day in bed. The indoor jacuzzi was dirty much of the time, and the parking arrangements were poorly explained when booking. There are two car parks on different levels, the spaces are small, and a slightly larger car is difficult to manage there. The advertised afternoon snacks included things like paninis, tacos, and ice creams, but we only found dry sausage and crepes. I had to walk into town to get a hot lunch. There isn’t much for families with children to do in or around the hotel. There is a small playroom, but kids may get bored after a night or two. It was one of the worst holidays I’ve had. I feel I wasted my money and won’t return.

Be careful booking here. I got phishing or scam messages on WhatsApp about my reservation twice. It seemed to me that my booking information had leaked, either because the hotel’s cybersecurity was weak or because of a staff member. I told reception when I checked in, but they didn’t apologize. All they said was, “It’s okay now, no problems.” 🙄

We had a really relaxing stay and would love to come back. The spa was fantastic, with indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, a good-sized pool, a fitness room, and beauty treatments. Our room looked down over the valley, so sunset was a lovely sight. The staff couldn’t do enough for us: they upgraded our room and brought a complimentary cheese and charcuterie board with drinks. Breakfast was a huge buffet, and a chef was there to make fresh scrambled eggs, omelettes, or even a crepe. Set high in the Alps, the hotel is geared towards ski season but was just as enjoyable in summer.

My daughter especially liked the bunk area, which had its own privacy door. The rooms are a good size and have panoramic valley views. Breakfast was a very good buffet with a reasonable choice. Dinner was good too, though it felt a little expensive compared with other places around the wider Les Arcs resort. The one real letdown was the daily room cleaning. They changed the towels and made the beds, but didn’t properly clean the rooms: surfaces weren’t wiped and floors weren’t vacuumed.
