Cascade Alpes-Horizon

A truly exceptional stay.

I spent a week at Arc 1600, entrance 3, and it's the best resort I've been to out of all the ones I've visited. The lift is 10 meters from the entrance, so there's no need for buses or shuttles. It's superb. Bars, pastry shops, a supermarket, and ski shops are right nearby. Each room has a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and all the utensils you need. You can rent ski equipment, or head down to Bourg Saint-Maurice to buy new gear quite cheaply. Ski lessons are available for adults and children. In the morning, children are picked up for their ski or snowboard lessons, then have activities after school until evening.

The residence is in a perfect spot, right on the slopes. The receptionist at the real estate agency that manages the apartments was a letdown, though. She asked us to come back later because she was busy, and got some of the information we gave her wrong, including the room door number. We did receive a gift package, but it was cleaning products for the apartment 😅. And there was a tube of lubricant in the bed, plus two rotten cucumbers in the fridge.

The south-facing apartment gets sun all day, and it's right on the slopes and close to everything Arc 1600 has to offer. The apartments are spacious and well laid out, with ski lockers. It's my favorite place for a winter holiday, and great for a relaxing week with the family. The only drawback is the stairs. There's no elevator, though you could say they help keep you in shape.
