Hotel Base Camp Lodge

Finding a place at the height of ski season for the very next day seemed nearly impossible after we had to leave our original accommodation. We needed to book at short notice because my husband had a medical emergency on our ski trip. Thankfully, Base Camp Lodge had a room available, and they were wonderful from the moment I arrived. They let me extend the stay one day at a time and kindly held the room, knowing my husband’s condition and recovery were uncertain. Staff across the front desk, bar, and restaurant were exceptionally helpful. Someone showed me the accommodation and facilities, which helped me feel more at ease. I was travelling alone with my two-year-old daughter during a very emotional and overwhelming time. The staff’s patience, friendliness, and genuine care made a real difference, and they did everything they could to make things less stressful. I’m deeply grateful for their compassion and professionalism, and would gladly stay again. Highly recommended.

The room was pretty, clean, and had a nice window, with comfortable beds and useful storage and hanging space. I liked the small touches, like the towel warmer and all the little lamps. The bathroom door was frosted glass like a shower door, and didn’t reach the floor or ceiling, so it doesn’t give much privacy from the bed area. That may not bother everyone, but it’s good to know in advance if you’re sharing. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful, and really nice. The restaurant looks lovely too.

I spent four nights in the capsules in August 2025, and the staff were super friendly. Base Camp Lodge was fantastic, with a great location, excellent breakfast, and all the amenities and services I needed. A few things could be better. Restaurant prices are a little high. I was lucky to get a capsule with a window; with the August heat, one without would have been unbearable. Ventilation is insufficient, and the corridor full of hikers’ and cyclists’ shoes was unpleasant. Fans or air conditioning would help a lot. Also, the capsule and bathroom doors closing made loud noises that kept waking me. Softening the door closures would fix that.

We had a comfortable, reasonably priced night before going up to Les Arcs. The restaurant and bar had lots of options, and the funicular was an easy walk even with our luggage and ski bags. Nothing to complain about.
