La petite Auberge

The host was excellent, welcomed us and helped arrange a taxi for early the next morning. We stayed one night after a week skiing in Courchevel, on our way to the train. The rooms were simple, but clean, cosy and very comfortable, just as advertised. Dinner was fantastic.

We tried a few other restaurants, but none matched this one. The menu is small, with each dish thoughtfully put together and full of flavor. We liked it enough to come back. The room was cozy too, though a bit tight for our bags.

The rooms were due at the end of our week-long ski expedition in the Vanoise. Bad weather forced us to cut the trip short by two days, so we cancelled them. We understood the hotel's terms required payment for the rooms in full, but thought it was unfair that dinner for seven wasn't refunded when we gave three days' notice. It left a bad feeling at the end of an otherwise great week. Not very customer friendly.

The bed was very comfortable, and the people running the hotel were friendly and seemed to manage everything well. My only issue was the noise coming up from the restaurant downstairs. If you need an early night, keep that in mind when booking a first floor room. Those rooms have a private shower but no private WC. Merci :)
