Le Relais De La Vanoise

I stayed in July 2019. The hotel was very clean, with interiors mixing old and modern touches and some ski heritage. The staff were really friendly and spoke English. There's a restaurant with reasonably priced food of OK quality, and breakfast was also OK, with bread, cheese, yoghurt, and cereal. I liked the strong coffee dispensed straight from the cooker. WiFi was good, and they had a secure place for bicycles. One drawback: there was no elevator to the room floors.

We were there for five days, and the couple running the place were very accommodating. There was a language barrier, but they made a point of greeting us each morning and evening. It's basic, but everything was clean, which suited us since we just needed somewhere to sleep between ski days. The funicular is about a 12-minute walk away, across the train station. The restaurants nearby seemed better and cheaper than the ones on the mountain. Ski Rock had a three-course meal for about 13 euros, while the most expensive option was around 30 euros. Nice staff, a great shower, and an awesome view. The room was small, but the bathroom was roomy enough. The bed, though, was tiny and sloped down from the middle towards the edges. Apart from that, even for the main thing we needed on our one-night stay, it was perfect!

Avoid this place. The rooms were stuffy and dated, with street noise coming in, and the staff seemed not to care about guests. We left and found a clean place with much more character and wonderful staff, only 10 minutes away. There are much nicer options in town for the same rates.
