Les Chambres du Soleil

Dinner and breakfast were both really good, and the packed lunch was nice too. Dinner is served for everyone to share, which felt a little awkward at a table with people heading on to another place. You want to be polite but also make sure you get enough after a long hike. We had a clean private room for two with comfortable beds, and the hot shower had no time limit. A great place to stay on the TMB. Just be aware there’s no cell service.

There’s no Wi-Fi or phone reception here, so it’s a good chance to switch off. We had a clean private room with its own bathroom for the three of us, and there was plenty of tasty food. A beautiful stop on the TMB.

The dinner was awful. We got a slice of focaccia with one piece of speck, lettuce, then polenta with watery ratatouille that was mostly tomato juice and had very few vegetables. There were two pieces of cheese with bread, followed by a panacotta-like dessert that was mostly sugar. Where was the protein? The young woman at check-in was rude and seemed uninterested. There weren’t other accommodation options for us while doing the TMB and staying at les Chapieux, unfortunately. On the plus side, check-in was possible at 2pm, we had a private double room and showers, and breakfast included plenty of cereal, one small croissant, jam, coffee, tea and juice.

After I fractured my ankle, the owners went out of their way to help me. They were extremely kind. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food was excellent. I hope I can come back next year and carry on with my hike.
