We loved the breakfast basket delivered to our room and would highly recommend getting one. The cozy, independent side of the hotel has two bedrooms and a dining area, and it's pet friendly. One drawback is carrying your luggage up two flights of stairs, though we didn't have much. The smaller bedroom had lots of children's books and a few board games. It's right in the heart of Bourges, near the cathedral, beautiful parks, and great restaurants. We missed the historical tour, but we'd definitely come back to try other rooms. Thanks for the warm, friendly service.

A train strike meant we needed another night in Bourges, and our first hotel was already booked. We were lucky to find a room at L'Hotel de Panette. The staff were exceptional, spoke English, and the hotel is very close to the historic downtown. The room felt like stepping back in time, with a kitchenette, a seating area, and the biggest shower we'd had since arriving in Europe. It made for an amazing stay and a perfect final night in France.

If you prefer hotel chains, this place might not be for you. It's quirky, with a very large room and kitchen facilities upstairs from what I first thought was a shop, but it seemed to be a store for crockery, glasses, and similar things. The room kept a lot of its original features, including exposed wooden beams. Breakfast came to the door in a generous hamper with baguette, pastries, yogurt, and so on. It was a decent amount for one person.

The location is extremely convenient, and I'd love to stay here again. Our gorgeous room felt distinctly French and fit right in with the architecture outside. We had an amazing view of Bourges, and it was great value.
