Premiere Classe Bourges (6 kms du centre-ville)

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, though the pillows were a bit lumpy, so bring your own if you're particular. Our bathroom looked worn but worked fine, with hot water. We had the room nearest the motorway and didn't hear traffic or truck horns. The receptionist was friendly when we arrived. I was concerned after seeing so many one star reviews, but that wasn't our experience. It's a budget hotel, so five star facilities aren't a fair expectation.

We stopped here on the way home from the south. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the location worked well for us. The rooms were very clean, and the bathroom was adequate. For the price, don't expect the Ritz or extras like shower gel, which only push the price up. Bring your own, and maybe a pillow too if you're fussy.

We were midway through a trip from Barcelona and had hoped to rest and freshen up here. There was no hot water, and although the receptionist apologized, nothing else was done. The toilet had no hand soap, and the bedspreads smelled bad. Luckily, we'd brought our own blanket and pillows. I can't recommend this hotel.

I've stayed in four budget hotels around France over two weeks, and this was the only one that disappointed me. The room was freezing, maybe 5-10°C, and there was no sound insulation. I could hear guests walking outside as if they were in the room, and the motorway noise went on all night. In the dark, unlit grounds, I walked into a spiderweb, and there were webs and mice in the areas guests use. There was also a payment problem: the receptionist charged me twice for one reservation. To get the second payment back, I had to fill out a French form and leave my card details on it, which felt very insecure and easy to misuse. Other hotels can handle refunds at reception. Avoid this place.
