The Orangerie made the stay feel wonderfully private. It used to be where plants were kept over winter, and now it has art, antiques, personal touches, plus a shared living room and kitchen. I had a spacious room in great condition and stayed two nights. Breakfast is in the main building’s banquet room, where Catherine, the chateau’s owner, welcomes you. She’s happy to show you around and share fascinating stories about her family’s past and ties to Thomas Jefferson and the French royal family before the revolution. The grounds are lovely for a walk. It’s less than 20 minutes from downtown Dijon, so this is a great stop for people driving from the Netherlands toward Southern France or Spain, especially if you like history, hospitality, and a place with real character.

The owners clearly care deeply about preserving and restoring this family château for future generations, and they’re incredibly kind hosts who do a lot to make guests comfortable. They also have wonderful stories about its history, since it’s been in the family for generations. The garden is gorgeous, and there’s so much character and detail to notice that it feels like stepping back in time. This was our most special stay in France. We hope to come back, and I’d definitely say it’s worth visiting if you love history.

We got to sleep in the blue room beside the Lamartine one, and in the morning they showed us the garden and little church. The place is gorgeous, the family is so nice, and breakfast was the best. Thank you again!

The grounds are big enough for a morning run or an afternoon walk, and there’s space for a large group, maybe for a wedding, company off-site, or team-building retreat. We were about 20 minutes from downtown Dijon and the vineyards. Catherine and Bertrand were lovely hosts and made sure we had what we needed. They were always happy to share stories about the chateau’s long history. Our room was comfortable, done in an old historic style, and surrounded by nature. Breakfast came with the stay, which made starting the day easy, and the pastries and bread from a nearby artisan bakery were always fresh. I’d absolutely come back.

We liked it so much that we added another night. Mme. Catherine and M. Bertrand were kind, helpful hosts and very happy to tell us about the home’s history. The castle is impressive and spread across several buildings, and it was easy to find. It’s also very close to Dijon and nearby wineries.
