We ate at the hotel restaurant on our first night, and the raclette was delicious. The hotel is also very handy for walking around the old city, and the staff were friendly and welcoming the whole time. Our room was comfortable. There can be alley noise at night with the windows open, but closing them made the room quiet. We had a wonderful stay at Auberge de la Paix and would happily recommend it for exploring the area.

The reception closes for lunch from 12 to 2 PM, so plan your arrival around that. There’s no elevator in this older building, which means carrying your bags upstairs. The hotel is inside a fortress, and I enjoyed the clean rooms and their lovely old-style decor. The staff were warm and helpful. They gave us directions and bus schedules, and even offered city bus coupons. I had a lovely stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere memorable in this beautiful historic area.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, but I had a bad experience with my bike. I was traveling alone by bike and assumed I could keep it in my room. They said that was forbidden and that bike storage was across town. After we talked, they let me leave it in the basement, but I felt dismissed when I raised my concerns, and the same rudeness came up again at checkout. My front carbon wheel ended up scratched. If you’re riding something light and dear to you, I’d look for another hotel.

We’ll be back next summer! The bedrooms were clean and lovely, and the hotel and restaurant felt super cosy. It’s right in the old town center, with great service and a delicious restaurant menu. The new owner, Mr Chollet, is amazing.
