La Ferme de Belline

We first stayed at the ferme de Belline over the Christmas break, then came back for the February vacation. It’s a real gem, run by a family who are always working to make your time in Briancon exceptional. The cabins are cosy, well maintained and practical, with everything you need. A big bonus is that staff take you to the loft every morning and pick you up when you’re done. It feels like staying downtown, but in a more private setting. As a family, we loved having a hot tub after skiing and a slope for sledding. The kids say it’s their favorite place in the Alps.

The cabin is in really serene surroundings, though the town is just 4 minutes away by car. It’s a nice two-bedroom place with adequate amenities, a good find for a cabin in the “woods.” I would have liked a chimney, but it was warm enough.

We came to the Briancon area for hiking and motorbiking, and it’s a great place for outdoor activities. ferme de Belline was the best place to stay, with cosy, fully equipped chalets and great hosts, magali and Marc. There’s a boule playing ground, a children’s playground, a huge trampolin, and lots of animals: horses, goats, chicken, cats and dogs. Best of all, there’s an outdoor hot tub where you can relax and take in the mountains. It’s very calm, and Briancon, with restaurants, supermarkets and croissants, is only 3 km away. The WiFi bandwidth is close to zero and could be improved. We were there for the nature, though, and a bit of digital detox is healthy. Great place to be.

Cosy, comfortable and a good price. The only downside was finding a piece of Oreo on the bed sheet when I went to sleep on our first night. It made me wonder whether the place hadn’t been cleaned between guests, or whether the sheet hadn’t been changed.
