La Bribaudonnière

We were delayed by heavy traffic and an accident, and we told the property. The booking site replied that La Bribaudonnière couldn't arrange our request in advance but would do its best to accommodate us when we arrived. At the gate, we rang the bell and waited over 10 minutes with no answer. We called, but the property's phone was switched off. Minutes after we got there, while we were still waiting outside, we received a cancellation. The owners knew we had arrived late because of traffic and were travelling with two young children, including a baby. They knew our family was left out on the street at 1 am. When we finally spoke to the woman, she shouted in Italian throughout the conversation and used some very offensive words. She knew we weren't Italian and couldn't answer much, so any noise people heard would have been from her shouting. I asked whether she realised she'd cancelled our booking while we were there, at night, with a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old baby. She just shouted back in Italian again. I understand we were very late, but it wasn't by choice. We felt thrown out of accommodation we had booked and paid for, since the property cancelled after we arrived. The owner hasn't apologised. In the days since, she has continued being rude and has threatened us with consequences if our online reviews cause her damages. We also feel insulted by a review supposedly written by a guest, which we suspect came from the owner, implying that we were drunk.

The owners were attentive and gave us a warm, genuine welcome. Our room was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious, especially the coffee and cheese. A touching experience, and one we'd highly recommend.

Ana was on top of everything and happy to help in any way. The place itself was clean, safe, peaceful, and absolutely superb for the area. Highly recommended, and I hope to be back before too long!

A wonderful night in the quietest, most peaceful place.
