Domaine de Matounet

We really enjoyed the peaceful setting and the lovely view of Bridore Castle. Inside, the gite has a big living room with an open-plan kitchen, plus comfortable beds and a good bathroom. There’s plenty to do on site with the pool and games room, and lots of places to explore nearby. Jean-David was a great host. A few things could be better: the Wi-Fi, the garden chairs, and having a kettle.

The big games room, which is like an "Ali Baba's cave," makes this cottage a hit with children. There’s also a great swimming pool, and Jean-David, the owner, takes such good care of us. It’s a peaceful place with a magnificent view of the "Bluebeard" castle.

There’s a heated swimming pool from mid-May to September, and the cottage is well set up for a group of eight. It has three bedrooms, with two double beds and one or two twin beds, plus two extra sleeping spaces in the living room. There’s a washer-dryer too. The welcome was very warm, and the accommodation was beautifully furnished and spotless. You can judge the setting from the photos. Beauval Zoo is 30 minutes away, Futuroscope is an hour away, and there are castles nearby. Just be aware there’s no grocery store or ATM close by, though a small convenience store is planned.

You can unwind here with ping pong, foosball, or a swim, and there’s a superb view of Bridoré Castle. It’s calm and peaceful, and the welcome is warm. I highly recommend it.
