TURGOT #25 - Cocon urbain - 1 Chambre

The room was lovely, very clean and comfortable, and breakfast had lots of choice. I liked the edible little pots for jam and chocolate sauce, made from ice cream cone material to cut down on waste. Such a good idea, and I hope more places do it. Online check-in was easy, too. Our receptionist was friendly, helpful, and communicated well in English since our French is poor. She even answered a question about our stay the next day at a different Ibis hotel.

The check-in was friendly and the location was good, but the car was effectively parked on the street. The room was warm and smelled bad, and had a child’s bathtub. Breakfast was cold and poor value.

The receptionist greeted us warmly, but the room was falling apart despite the top price we paid. It was absolutely awful and disgusting. We should have been offered some sort of refund. At checkout, we told another receptionist, who was very nice; she apologized and said the rooms were due to be renovated. We should never have been given that room. I’m disappointed in myself for not refusing to stay.

We were at the back of the hotel and heard no noise at all. From other reviews, the rooms facing the busy street sound like they could be noisy. Staff were cheerful and made us feel welcome after a long journey. It’s basic but good value, with easy parking, a handy location, and an easy walk to the city centre. Our room was simple, clean and pleasant, with a very comfortable standard Ibis bed. WiFi was good, and we’d stay again.
