Hotel The Originals Bruay la Buissiere Le Cottage

I’ve only written one other negative review, but I feel I should warn people about this place. I stayed for two weeks while working nearby and found the staff seemed unhappy in their jobs. Once they completely ignored me when I said hello. They also seemed annoyed when asked to unlock the main entrance and preferred guests to use the fire exit. The decor is very dated, and the worst part was the awful smell in my bathroom. I could have asked to change rooms, of course, but after a few days I’d decided to change hotels, so moving rooms wasn’t a priority. Still, I feel the owners should have dealt with the smell. I only had breakfast in the restaurant. The evening menu looks very good, and I think the food is the only thing keeping the place going.

Small, clean rooms and showers, just right for a quick overnight stop. Everyone was very friendly, and they even gave my dog treats! The restaurant food was good, and Calais is easy to get to.

It’s a basic hotel, but very clean and the service was brilliant. My room was small, which was fine since I was travelling alone. It was very quiet, and I’d stay here again.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and a good price made this an excellent hotel for us. Breakfast was nice, and the town is lovely too. I’d happily visit again and stay at Le Cottage.
