Hotel Bristol

We stayed here in 2014 while tracing my father's footsteps to hill 67 in Aug 1944. We really enjoyed our stay, especially sitting in the front room with a bottle of wine. I’d return.

The staff were all really helpful, and breakfast was great, better than most. We spent two days in Caen exploring the area, and this was a lovely hotel with easy access out to the countryside. Parking is shared, but they let me keep my motorcycle in their garage. I’d stay here again if I’m in the Caen area.

I paid the full rate for a 3* hotel and was given a room where the shower cabin was just 40 cm from the head of the bed. The toilet was in a cabinet beside the shower, separated by a flimsy sliding door. The window shades didn’t work reliably. I was told I’d been given this room because I was travelling alone, and that photo 31/33 on their site showed the layout. There are five rooms on each of the hotel’s four floors with reasonable layouts, plus one on each floor like this one, which is below par. Breakfast was okay, but no more than that. The staff were otherwise helpful and friendly.

We stayed one night on the way to our holiday destination. We’ve tried other hotels in Caen, and found this one conveniently located and good value. The staff were very friendly.
