The location worked for us, and we don’t regret staying here. It’s close to the train station, a grocery shop, and two bakeries, and it was one of the cheapest accommodation options on the French Riviera. We got our €150 deposit back just a few hours after checking out, so that was very quick. The apartment itself was spacious, with a large terrace overlooking the pool. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking: a clean fridge with freezer, wine glasses, a corkscrew, and plenty of useful things. There was also an iron, lots of towels, and a bathtub, which I appreciated. The cleanliness was a serious problem. Walking into the building, reception, and then the apartment, I was struck by how dusty everything was. It felt like an old attic. I went to buy cleaning products straight away and spent about an hour wiping dust from everywhere, including the tops of doors and pictures, then cleaned the floor. Only after that could we feel comfortable. The sofa and armchairs were so dusty that sitting on them made our skin itch. We’d brought a picnic blanket, so we covered the sofa and could sit there during the day without the itching being too bad. The curtains were dusty too, and best left untouched. Cleanliness matters a lot to me. We were there for five days, so spending an hour or two cleaning wasn’t a tragedy, but the lack of upkeep was hard to understand. The apartment, reception, and shared areas all needed cleaning. For me, especially as a woman, that level of uncleanliness was unacceptable.

The beds were comfortably firm, so we slept well, and the pool was nice with pleasantly warm water. We didn’t try the spa, though it looked quite small. Breakfast was satisfactory, with plenty to choose from, including pastries, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, eggs, ham, cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages. The chef was friendly and pleasant. The kitchen seemed extremely small, though, and hot food was put out in tiny bowls, so some guests had to wait for refills. Better organization and a larger kitchen would help. We stayed for a week and the experience was okay, but it felt like a standard apartment with a light breakfast, not a 4-star hotel. We didn’t get the room we’d booked. Instead of the bright bedroom in the booking photos, there was a very small, dark bunk-bed nook in the entrance hall that was too uncomfortable to use. Two adults ended up sleeping on the living-room sofa, which was disappointing. There was no regular housekeeping. Guests are expected to clean the apartment and take out the rubbish, and housekeeping only happens every 7 days, so towels need to last. We also had to borrow a hairdryer from reception because there wasn’t one in the room, but it stopped working after a few seconds. The house rules could be stricter. On our last evening, people in the neighboring apartment smoked cannabis on their balcony for hours, and the smell came straight into ours. The window insulation is thin too, letting in street noise and smells from outside.

I couldn’t sleep at all because of the noise from the main road and avenue de Nice. I heard cars, trucks, motorcycles, people, dogs, and garbage trucks at night. The aluminum double-glazed windows let all that sound through, so this is a big problem if you need quiet. I only use a hotel room to sleep, since I’m out during the day. I had booked a two-bedroom apartment. The manager offered to move me to a one-bedroom place only if I paid 50€ more per night. It was smaller than what I’d booked and paid for, yet more expensive. There’s bed construction, and the view didn’t matter to me since I only needed somewhere to sleep.

Everything was perfect, and I’d strongly recommend it for families. The reception staff were helpful. It’s near the train, so Cannes, Nice, and Monaco are only a short trip away.

The unit was very large, with a great kitchenette, and the bed and bedding were high quality. The grounds are beautiful, and the pool is great. It’s a large facility in a good spot in Cagnes-sur-Mer. The place is quite dated and needs some love, but otherwise it was worth staying at. For us, the off-season price was good value.
