Hôtel Maria Die

The setting felt romantic, and the staff made us feel at home with lovely recommendations for the area. They were welcoming and helpful, and breakfast was wonderful. A beautiful hotel.

Just above Calvi’s port, bars, and restaurants, the hotel is wonderfully placed but still quiet. The design is light and graceful, the rooms and common areas are spacious and well appointed, and the staff are gracious. We stayed in the top suite and had stunning 270° views of the Mediterranean. Even without that treat, this is a gem, one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.

I travel a lot, mostly to luxury places across western Europe, and it’s been a long time since I’ve felt this kind of warmth and genuine hospitality. The service was thoughtful and went well beyond what I expected. It’s a lovely family-run hotel where they make you feel like part of the family. The location is handy too, just a short walk from Calvi’s harbor, historic center and main sights. I’d come back to Calvi just to stay here again.

We slept really well, and even opened the doors at night to listen to the waves. The area felt very safe and was quiet, yet shopping and restaurants were only a six-minute walk away. Our ocean view was amazing, the room seemed new and first class, and the bathroom was modern. The whole hotel smelled lovely and was so clean you could eat off the floor, lol. We didn’t see any bugs. Toiletries were excellent, breakfast was great, and they made eggs to order for us. The father and his devoted daughter who run the place were both very personable and kind. Cleanest hotel we’ve ever stayed in.
