Having so few other guests meant we could enjoy plenty of privacy by the pool, and the stay was peaceful and private throughout. The standard room was nicely furnished, with a lovely view of the thatched roof from the balcony. Staff were kind and helpful, though I only speak English and the receptionists spoke very little, which made communication difficult at times. The team was quite small and covered both the restaurant and reception, so sometimes I had to go to the restaurant to find someone at reception. Reception also closed in the late afternoon, meaning we needed to ask the restaurant staff for help in the evening. The hotel is old, and the upstairs corridors show it. Our bathroom could have been cleaned better, and the beds were a little hard.

The food was excellent, the welcome was warm, and our dog was made to feel welcome too. We slept very comfortably, and there was lots of outdoor space to enjoy. It made for a pleasant stop on our way south from Calais. A couple of things kept me from giving five stars. In November, the slate toilet floor was cold underfoot. The room also didn't have many places to set down our cases, and there wasn't enough space for an armchair or even a small sofa. I'd happily stay again another time.

The restaurant dinner was delicious, and breakfast was generous. We came back to stay at Le Petit Coq aux champs and were glad we did. It's set in quiet countryside, which was especially welcome after living on a busy city street. The rooms were comfortable too.

The place was wonderfully quiet and secluded, and dinner was excellent. We stayed with our two small dogs and the staff made us feel very welcome. The design is quirky and interesting, the rooms are modern, and the pool and garden were easy to get to. Breakfast was a very pleasant self-service setup.

The room was very warm, and the only way to get air was to leave the terrace doors open. Since we were on the ground floor and it didn't feel secure, we couldn't leave them open overnight. Our window faced the swimming pool, and with only blinds and no curtains, people could see into the room. The blinds also made it very dark. The thatched building is lovely and the surroundings are beautiful. The hosts were charming and the food very good. We'd certainly stay again.
