The setting is lovely, tucked away from tourism and consumerism, with hardly any modern houses in the hamlet. It feels secluded, yet Bretenoux and Argentat are close enough for a market trip, and the drive through the countryside is a pleasure. Inside, there’s lots of light and the place is clean, cared for, and pleasing to look at. It’s beside the castle but still feels private, with a beautiful view and good heating and cooling. I have a bad back, so the comfortable mattress, quality sheets, and wool duvet made a big difference. And having warm croissants and baguettes brought to the door in the morning while we had coffee in our pajamas was such a treat. The costs were clear, the whole process felt easy, and I thought the price for the quality was excellent. Bruno and Thierry were warm and pleasant to deal with, almost like friends. I’d happily stay again.

Bruni and Thierry made us feel very welcome, and breakfast was just right, especially the lovely jams and cakes. The house has been restored with a lot of care, and the owners have every reason to be proud of it. It was spotless, the beds were really comfortable, and we were glad to have the blackout curtains. Such good value for a very enjoyable short stay at Domaine du Vidal. We’ll be back.

Bruno and Thierry were excellent hosts, and the place is worth the effort if you’re after rural France. Getting there was a bit awkward, though. The GPS sent us to the nearby camp, where a woman helped us find the house. The entrance gate was shut, and there was nowhere to park on the narrow road while we walked up to get someone to open it so we could bring in the car.

The table d’hote was sumptuous, and the place itself has been renovated and kept up with so much taste. I only spent two nights there, but T&B were so warm and friendly that it felt like a longer visit. A huge thank you for making me feel welcome at this beautiful hotel. It should be your go to location, I can’t imagine finding better. I hope I can come back and see these wonderful hosts again. Bravo!

Dinner was delicious, and it was great fun meeting the other guests, so I’d recommend staying for it. Bruno and Thierry were helpful in giving us ideas for discovering the region, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them at the beautiful domain. Definitely give it a try!
