The room we booked at the front was spacious enough and clean, with a lovely sea view. It looked a little old-fashioned, and we sometimes heard noise from the restaurants, but that was part of the charm. Two staff members gave us a rather brusque welcome, though the charming woman who handles the hotel process couldn’t have been nicer. As a hotel, Le Cancalais is fine, and I’d recommend it for a stay in Cancale.

The atmosphere was good, the tables comfortable, and the staff friendly. Best of all, the food was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you’re in Cancale, do stop in.

We dropped into this restaurant for lunch and were really impressed. The oysters were very fresh, the lobster ravioli was delicious, and the seafood bake in crisp puff pastry was great.
