Malibu Village

The rooms and grounds seemed fine for the prices, but the service was strange. When I arrived, they told me where the room and parking were and what deposit I’d need in case of any issue. At checkout they charged me for cleaning, which I thought was included. Nobody had told me I was supposed to clean the apartment, though the staff insisted they had. They also scattered the chips we’d left in the kitchen near the bedrooms and said I’d disrespected them. Then they admitted they were lying, but changed it to saying I’d disrespected them another way. I don’t understand how cleaning can be excluded, or why staff would lie to justify compensation. I wouldn’t recommend this place. If you do choose it, clarify every detail of your stay first.

The location was great, very close to the lovely beach, and there’s a nice restaurant on site. We had a lovely time, and the gentleman at the front desk was really helpful and pleasant. The suite was nice to have, but a few things need attention: some interior doors wouldn’t close, including the bathroom door, the AC didn’t work, and the landscaping around the site needs work. They looked after me well at reception and even helped me stay an extra day when I wasn’t feeling up to travelling. I had a good time, though I didn’t try any of the facilities. Bring soap or ask for some, since there wasn’t any in the room. Towels cost extra too, so remember to get them. The rooms aren’t soundproof, in case you’ve got a “friend” over for some late-night fun.

We planned on three nights, but liked the apartments and staff enough to extend our stay. The apartment had everything we needed and was very clean. There was a great choice of food and drinks, and the swimming pools were beautiful. The bar and restaurant were great too, with good food and service. Nothing to dislike, it’s a beautiful place.
