There’s a lot of potential here for it to become a really top Cannes location, and its position is already excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, but they need more people on hand. Most of the time I could only see one person, and there was nobody to help with luggage. The old carpets in almost all the rooms are a problem, and the value for money was lower than I expected. There’s no parking, and unloading luggage is very difficult.

We’d been regulars at Villa Garbo since 2018. Under the previous owners, our stays were a pleasure: wonderful owners, excellent service, spotless cleaning, breakfast included, daily sheet changes and water, free snacks and champagne at open bar hours, and beach towels each morning. So when they told us in January 2024 that they’d sold the villa, we were devastated. We visit Cannes every year and had always chosen Villa Garbo. We came back this year knowing things might be different, but we didn’t expect such a disappointing stay. The email exchange with the hotel manager was rude at first; her manner changed only after we said we were returning clients. On arrival, the staff seemed cold, unfriendly, and passive. They said they had no beach towels but could give us extra room towels. After our day at the beach, the manager suggested reusing them, even though they had sunscreen and oil on them. We had to keep reminding staff to clean the room. Coffee capsules, shower gel, dishwashing soap, and kitchen towels weren’t replenished, and the terrace wasn’t cleaned at all during our two weeks. The corridors and garden were dirty, as were the outdoor sofas, so sitting outside wasn’t pleasant. One manager wouldn’t even look at us when we tried to greet her. The worst part was that my sister’s lingerie, worth 500 euros, disappeared from our room. We’d never had anything like this happen in all our years at the hotel. We aren’t making it up, and the previous owner can vouch for us. The staff did nothing and didn’t even seem surprised. Do we have to lock our lingerie in a safe? When we raised it, the manager said, “Well, it’s not a ring.” I can’t imagine a worse experience, and I don’t recommend this hotel.

The beach is just a five-minute walk away, and there are shops nearby too. There isn’t a private beach, but you can rent sunbeds along the waterfront. Staff gave us a lovely personal welcome, and our room was clean and tidy. Our flight wasn’t until evening, but we could use the lobby and facilities throughout the day. I also liked the free drinks from 6 to 8 pm, a nice way to bring everyone together. I’d stay again.

I’d look for somewhere more comfortable and peaceful. The place sits by a roundabout, so there’s a lot of noise. Management was decent, but the apartments are very dated and need work. Several things didn’t function, including the iron, and the window was broken.
