Canopy by Hilton Cannes

We were upgraded to a modern one bedroom apartment that was well renovated, comfortable, and well maintained, with a living area, dining table, one toilet, and one bathroom. The staff were genuinely friendly and professional, and clearly doing their best to look after guests. The hotel faces the sea, with the main restaurants, shopping areas, and attractions an easy walk away. I stayed at the Canopy by Hilton in Cannes for four nights during my visit this month, and it was a very pleasant stay overall. The main drawback was food and beverage service, especially when the hotel was fully booked. There’s one restaurant and two bars, including a beautiful rooftop bar with a fantastic view and a lobby bar. The organization could be inconsistent. Once, the rooftop was closed for a private event, and breakfast was moved to the lobby bar without warning. On another night, the main restaurant was fully blocked for a private function, leaving hotel guests with no dinner option at the property. Both situations were inconvenient and could have been communicated and planned better. Apart from those food and beverage issues, everything else was in order. The location, rooms, cleanliness, and service quality all met expectations for a hotel in this category. I’d still consider staying at Canopy by Hilton again, and plan to book it next year when I return to Cannes, hopefully with better organization on the F&B side.

You can swim in the sea right in front of the hotel. I went in on October 10, and the water was around 21°C, which felt quite pleasant. The seventh-floor rooftop terrace is stunning too. You can have breakfast there with a gorgeous view, and, as far as I know, dinner is served until 11 PM on weekdays. I’ve traveled a lot around Europe, and this is one of the best Hilton hotels on the coast. The rooms are excellent and the service is top-notch. A couple of things to know before booking: pool access costs €20 per day and includes the spa and steam room. Breakfast is decent, but the selection is somewhat limited and is missing things common in European breakfasts, like tomatoes, cucumbers, and fresh greens. Even with those minor drawbacks, it’s a great hotel for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

The sea view from our room and the breakfasts overlooking Cannes port and the Palais des Festivals were highlights of our stay during the festival. The whole hotel is beautifully designed, and its location made it a standout seaside stop on our long trip along the French Riviera. We kept wishing the other hotels on our route were like it. As Hilton Diamond members, we also got one complimentary visit to the pool, and the valet service was quick and professional. There was a frustrating billing problem, though: we were charged twice for the reservation. When I asked for a refund, I was passed between people, and getting it sorted took more than two weeks. Even with that hassle, I highly recommend the hotel and would happily return.

We came back for a second stay to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary, and the team made it feel like a real occasion. There were balloons in the room, a breakfast surprise, a cake with candles, thoughtful gifts, and a lovely warm atmosphere. That personal attention meant a lot to us. The service was exceptional, and we’d strongly recommend staying here.
