My biggest issue was the location. Expedia puts the hotel in zip code 06400, but it’s actually in 06150, La Bocca, about 5-6 km from central Cannes. My business was in the 06400 area, so this made a difference. You can take Bus 1 or Bus 2 from the stop, about a five-minute walk away, for 1,80 Euro one way. There were good points too. The room was clean, including the bed, floor, and bathroom. Parking was accommodating, with a well-lit lot, and the bus stop is nearby. You’re also within walking distance of fast food places like McDonald, Five Guys Burger, KFC, and Burger King, plus restaurants and Carrefour for groceries and other things. The front desk staff were quite friendly when I arrived late in the evening. The room was considerably small, not really enough for a family and not a good size even for a couple. There was no iron or ironing board, though you could ask reception to borrow a steam iron. No microwave or coffeemaker either, and no proper desk and chair, just a square nightstand and desk-like shelves with a clothes hanger on the side. The shower had weak water pressure and was small enough to be uncomfortable if you’re bigger. I’m 5'5" and 160 lbs. There were only two shower towels and one floor towel, no hand towels. Late at night the gate was closed, and the hotel card alone didn’t let you in. I had to ring for someone, and that was the only entrance I could see. I’d seen both good and bad reviews, and in my experience there was some truth in both. This is just my own take, and others may have had a different experience.

The street noise was so bad that keeping the window open at night was difficult. The two-person rooms were uncomfortably tiny by any international standard. There was only one small stool for luggage, and opening two suitcases while moving around was impossible. The online photos don’t show the actual space. Unless you’re traveling light with a backpack, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Even though occupancy was low, staff and management were inflexible. When we asked for another chair, they told us to go grab one from the patio. Update: I raised the issue at reception and got a dismissive response from the old lady. Only after I wrote this review did the manager suddenly come to our room and ask, “What is the problem?” I told him the room was far too small. He just said “Ok” and left. No offer of help, room change, or solution, despite several rooms clearly being vacant in the middle of October. When I followed up with Booking.com, I was told the hotel claimed it would have offered us a different room if we’d asked. That wasn’t true. We’d tried several times to raise our concerns. The hotel’s lack of honesty and empathy was deeply disappointing.

My son’s stay at Hotel des Victoires in Cannes ended with him forgetting a backpack containing valuable personal belongings. The Croatian travel agency Speranza, which organized the trip, offered no help, shifted responsibility onto us, and left us to sort it out alone. That level of unprofessionalism was disappointing and not what travelers should expect. I’m very grateful to Mr. Lionel Sarri at Hotel des Victoires for his kindness, professionalism, and patience. He stayed calm, helped us throughout, and was willing to assist. Thanks to his effort and dedication, the backpack was found, kept safe, and sent back to Croatia. Hotel Victoires can be proud to have Mr. Sarri on its team. He reflects well on the whole hotel and left a lasting good impression. My wholehearted recommendation goes to the hotel, and a big thank-you to him for his commitment and humanity. I strongly advise the Speranza agency from Croatia to seriously reconsider how it treats its clients.

The power was still out after we’d waited around 15 minutes, so I called reception again. The receptionist sent a man upstairs to check the plugs, but another 20 minutes went by without the power coming back. I asked if we could move rooms so we could get ready and leave on time. About 10 minutes later she gave us another room, but that one had no power either. I went back to reception and explained how disappointed I was. We’d paid for a room to rest and shower, but couldn’t even dry our hair in the middle of winter, and I was worried we could get sick. The receptionist laughed sarcastically and said “okay.” When I asked if that was how they usually treated guests, she just nodded. I’m not sure she spoke English, but in such a tourist area, management should make sure someone at reception does. That’s not proper hospitality or customer service. We’d booked one night on a road trip and arrived late. Two blonde women at reception greeted us warmly, both very kind and customer-oriented, so our first impression was excellent. The next morning, plugging in the room hairdryer cut the power. We called reception, but the receptionist said she couldn’t help because she was alone and couldn’t leave the desk unattended.

The bathroom smelled strongly of sewage, and when I reported it, the woman at the desk practically ignored me. On arrival, we waited over five minutes to check in while the receptionist and cleaning lady argued before anyone even acknowledged us. The receptionists were generally rather rude, and some were quite careless. They charged the city tax twice before eventually refunding it. The location is handy if you’re driving, and the beach is a 15-minute walk away. The rooms were spacious and fairly clean. Breakfast was poor, just a few pastries plus eggs and bacon. At €12.50, I think you can definitely get something better.
