ResidHotel Cannes Festival

After only two hours in bed in the dark, I felt pinching. Around 3 a.m. I turned on the light and saw hundreds and hundreds of bedbugs covering the beds. I stripped off and put my clothes in the microwave, took a quick shower, and left. I drove to a “better” area while looking for a laundromat, threw out what I'd worn in bed, then washed everything at 60 degrees and dried it on high heat. I had to cancel all my Sunday and Monday plans. This was my first time seeing or dealing with bedbugs, and Google helped me get through it. I wouldn't wish the experience on my worst enemy. The apartment looked neglected, though at first it seemed okay. The third bed was in a closet with no airflow, and there was no air conditioning or fan in August. Even with the sliding door open, it was bad, and the closet was unbearable. The area initially seemed shady, with people hanging out outside, and the building felt “ghetto” when I entered. The listing photos don't reflect the place at all. In extreme distress, I called the number provided, but the man was unhelpful, spoke little English, and offered nothing. They didn't refund that night's payment. I planned to make another claim for the clothes I put in the microwave to kill the bugs. I rushed to make a video because I didn't want to stay another second, and the reality was 100% worse. This “hotel” needs to be inspected against even the lowest hotel standards or shut down. Please don't give it more business.

For the price, my stay was pretty good. The room was clean and quiet, and it had a nice balcony. The building itself felt sketchy, even a little scary, and reception was open only at set times. There's a TER station nearby, along with bus stops for Cannes and other towns.

I nearly stayed there this summer, but managed to cancel after an awful exchange with the receptionist. He was rude, swore in French, and complained that “tourists always ask the same questions.” Apparently answering questions was too much to ask. He wanted a €200 deposit and said that since we'd leave before reception opened, we couldn't get it back in cash and would have to trust this strange Frenchman to send it electronically. No way. The form we were asked to sign was also stapled over another guest's paperwork from several months earlier. I'd give zero stars if I could.

The service was good, and the location is the one positive. But someone yelled under the windows all night, it was dirty, and the rooms looked like they'd last been renovated about 20 years ago. There was no Wi-Fi or air conditioning, and we didn't even get a towel. Yet they still ask for a 200 euro deposit to protect the room.
