Hotel Normandy

The kindness of the staff was the best part of our stay. They treated us like family from the first day, and one of the women even brought us a cappuccino on the house just to be nice. That kind of generosity is rare, and everyone was so warm and helpful. We stayed at the cozy little Hotel Normandy in a village near Monac during our South of France trip. Easily a 5/5 experience, and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

We only stayed one night, but it was a delightful visit. The owner greeted us while guests were laughing and chatting on the patio, which made for a lovely welcome. The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful, and we were even able to get into our room very early. There was an open parking space for us too. It was easy to take the bus to Monaco. Our room was clean, the air conditioner worked well, and I liked the toiletries. The bathroom had been newly remodeled, and there’s art around the hotel, including a few fun photos of the owner. We’ll definitely return.

The room itself was good, with a powerful shower, but I could hear everything upstairs from room number 2. The owner's kids were quite noisy, though they were gone by 8 pm. I didn’t have breakfast, but there’s a bakery and grocery store nearby on the main road. Please don’t try to park by the hotel. The little downhill road has only 2 spaces and almost no room to turn around. I nearly got stuck. There’s a car park close by on the main street, so use that instead.

The rooms are extremely tiny, the place is very old and not very clean, and the comforts were stained. There was no electric kettle in the room. To me, this felt more like a one-star hotel, and I’d avoid it at all costs. The manager and front desk were extremely rude and arrogant. I’ve been to 40+ countries and stayed in hundreds of hotels at different price levels, but this was the first time the front desk gave me two beach towels and then charged me two days later for using them without saying there’d be an extra cost. The manager said I had to pay because they needed to wash the towels. She seemed to have forgotten what business she was in. Her rudeness and disrespect were unbelievable. The good reviews are fake.
