The Originals Boutique, Hôtel La Baie de Morlaix

The welcome was warm and checking out was easy. From the hotel, a little footpath leads to the seafront restaurants, which are within walking distance. We had a street-facing room, but it was quiet enough that we even slept with the window open. The electric roller blind blocks out all the light, and the beds were firm enough for me. The bathroom is a bit dated but fine. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, so I can't comment on it. We picked ours up at the boulangerie literally around the corner, though the people there weren't very nice, unlike the hotel staff. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I'll definitely come back. This is a lovely little hotel that's kept in great shape, and the room was comfortable and excellent. I had a lovely breakfast this morning, my first of six. The staff do everything they can to make guests feel special.

I won't stay here again. The place was very clean and well located, but I never felt welcome. The staff, who seemed to be the owners, were cold and extremely rude. After a long day out sightseeing, I worried about bringing a little sand into the room, even though it's a beachside hotel. The owner yelled at me over it, and I was horrified. The owners seemed to monitor every move around the property around the clock, and the wife cleaned the rooms. They treated me like someone staying in their home, not like a guest. There was a kettle and complimentary coffee in the room, but when I used them the woman snapped, “Oh, you think this is a kitchen?” It was one of the strangest experiences I've had. I've stayed in many hotels because I value having privacy and the freedom to wake when I want and have coffee in my room. Even when I'm with family, that's why I prefer hotels. They also ignored the Do Not Disturb sign on my door, and the owner would bang on it at 10 am. They don't seem to understand the boundaries tourists need to have their own space. Next time I'm in Carantec, I'll choose an Airbnb or a Gite instead. The region is lovely, and the food at the local creperies is exquisite.

The staff were friendly, the price was good, and I liked the room. It could do with better soundproofing, though.
