Camping de Maubuisson

The place and the surrounding area are beautiful, and the campsite had a relaxed, pleasant feel. My friends and I turned up without a reservation in the busiest part of the year for the region, but they fitted us in without any trouble. The staff were incredibly helpful and seemed to understand what kind of group we were. They found us a quiet pitch on a hill, a bit off the road and well away from other tents, which suited a couple of youngsters perfectly. There were plenty of facilities, just the right number of toilet blocks, and they were about as clean as you can expect at a campsite. I might come back one day, which isn't something I usually say about campsites. A couple of wild boars came sniffing around our tent. That might feel stressful to some and exciting to others. Keep rubbish with a food smell inside or up high, because they'll try to eat it.

We spent one night in our motorhome and were very disappointed. The neighboring group in their fenced tent area was noisy, then wandered around with torches at 2am. It wasn't what we expected, and we didn't sleep easily.

The pool was a welcome feature, though the midges from the lake became too much at times. This large site felt overpriced for cycle touring, and our pitch was quite a walk from the nearest toilets and washing facilities, which weren't especially clean. We should have stayed at the municipal campsite at Carcan place.

A wonderful stay, with a great feel all around. It's close to the beach and a paradise for children.
