Huttopia Lac de Carcans

The atmosphere was brilliant, and the on-site entertainment and food worked really well. One evening there was live music and a gourmet burger van. The pool was clean and warm, and never too busy. The bar area at the centre of the site is great, with a kids' play area, volleyball and table tennis. The lake is right there, an easy five-minute walk for a swim or other activities. Maubisson is a short ride away, with lots of places to eat and a nice feel. The staff were all lovely, and there were no chavs. We'd highly recommend it and will be back. Lacanau is about 15mins away by car, bustling, with an amazing surfing beach.

I love the area, so I think I’d come back, though the campsite felt a bit too large to me. There weren’t enough toilets or showers for the number of people, and getting online could be difficult unless you sat by reception. If you’re bringing a tent, take pegs that work in loose sand.

We spent a week at Huttopia Lac de Carcans in June and had a good stay. Our tent worked well for us, the staff were lovely, and the site was quiet and clean. We swam in the nearby lake almost every day, or went by car or bike to the ocean, and there were other activities too. A lockable steel box is provided for valuables, which was handy when we left the campsite. There’s a small grocery shop and a restaurant in the area, but both were still closed in June, so plan your food shopping before driving around. Also check the car arrangements when booking: one part of the campsite is car-free, with parking in a designated lot outside. If you need your car by your tent, discuss that with Huttopia first.

We had a fantastic family stay at Huttopia Carcans. There’s a lovely lake right nearby with plenty of water sports, and beautiful sandy areas around it. The campsite itself was peaceful and relaxing. I’d happily recommend it.
