Cerise Carcassonne Sud

The pool was fine, and we skipped breakfast because the continental option seemed expensive. The place is cheap and almost cheerful, but the ageing apartment struggled with the heat. The air conditioner is in the kitchen-dining area, not the bedroom. On the first night, with the unit set to 20C, the bedroom was probably 23-24C, hot but bearable. The next night it got stuck at 24C and wouldn't change. I went to reception at 20:55, but they had closed early and I couldn't get help. It was a very hot night. Would I return? Probably not.

We had a great view of the Carcasses castle, the location was perfect, and the kitchenette and pool were nice. The room was clean and the bed was super comfortable, though the place looked a little rundown and could use fresh paint. A pigeon woke us early and wouldn't quiet down. If you're visiting Carcassonne on a budget, I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

We parked at the hotel and walked to the nearby castle, which made the location very convenient. Our spacious apartment was spartan but clean and functional, and we stayed one night. Breakfast in the dining room was nicely laid out and the food was good. Anthony at reception that morning was helpful with directions and made sure the food was replenished. We arrived just before the staffed check-in hours ended, and the check-in was handled efficiently. Reception had also made a point of emailing us about the last staffed check-in time. All in all, a great stay.

The citadel is only a few minutes' walk away, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and very clean, with the most comfortable bed I've ever had on holiday. Breakfast was good, with scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage as well as plenty of fresh meat and cheese. There's a lovely, fairly small pool. I used it a few times and was happy with it. I also looked at the well-equipped gym, though I didn't use it. I'd definitely stay again if I'm in the area.
