The homemade breakfast was a real treat, and Amandine and Arnaud made us feel so well looked after. Their daughter and their lovely cats, Paulette and Toulouse, made breakfast even more fun. Our room was spotless, warm, and really cozy. We’re happy we chose this place for a restful stay in Carcassonne, and would happily recommend it. ☺️

We had to cancel our trip overseas and contacted the hotel directly twice to ask for a refund, giving them six weeks’ notice. We still haven’t had any reply, which is really frustrating and disappointing. I’d avoid paying in full before arrival, or pay only a deposit in case you need to cancel like we did.

A returning guest eventually let me in after I’d been left outside in the rain for ten minutes. The staff then challenged that guest instead of helping me or explaining what was going on. I had arrived at 8:10 PM, just ten minutes after the 8 PM check-in cutoff, which nobody had told me about beforehand. My calls went unanswered and no one responded to the doorbell. I was told I couldn’t enter and would get no refund. I had a valid booking confirmation, but the staff weren’t apologetic and wouldn’t discuss any solution. I had to find somewhere else to stay, at extra cost and considerable inconvenience. I’d paid for a room I couldn’t use, and the whole thing felt humiliating and needlessly stressful. The way I was treated at Chambres d’Hotes - le Magnolia was disgraceful, with no basic customer service. Future guests should know about the strict, unannounced check-in policy and the unhelpful staff. I’d strongly advise against booking unless you’re willing to risk the same experience.

Breakfast was a lovely way to start the day, with different homemade baked treats each morning as well as homemade yogurt, granola, and jams. The hosts were friendly, and the room was comfortable and spotless. It’s also well placed, about five minutes on foot from the railway station and twenty minutes from the Old City.
