Hôtel Gambetta

My wife was exhausted and devastated by the news that one of her closest cousins had died in terrible circumstances after a serious medical error caused by negligence. We were in the Drôme, and she was determined to reach her family in a small village in the Tarn, more than seven hours away, even though I was about to be hospitalized for a rare illness. Carmaux, seven kilometres from the village, had just one hotel. Its website showed no availability, and my wife had tried calling several times late on Ash Wednesday evening without getting through. At 7 the next morning, while I was in hospital, I spoke with the manager, Mr. Jérémy Chaba. He confirmed the hotel was full. I explained why a room mattered and that my wife needed to set out within the hour, given her exhaustion and the long drive. He listened kindly and said he would look for a solution. Less than an hour later, he called back with a room available. He took care of things directly with my wife, and that changed everything. She could make the journey with a much calmer mind and be with her family. During my stay, I was looked after extremely well. The hotel is very quiet and well soundproofed. There was a birthday party on the second night, and I didn't hear a thing. Breakfast was generous and excellent. Mr. Chaba's thoughtfulness, support, kindness and generosity felt like real humanity in a harsh world. That spontaneous generosity also makes you want to do your best to be worthy of it. The hotel and its manager were a blessing to us. Thank you, Mr. Chaba, for everything you gave so generously. Louis and Françoise R

We had a fantastic stay. The hotel works really well for business trips and families alike, and Jérémy, the new manager, is so attentive. Thanks again for a lovely visit. Sarah

Jérémy and his team are real gems. They made us feel so welcome, with warmth and plenty of smiles. The rooms are comfortable, secure, and well kept. If you're in Carmaux, this place is absolutely worth a visit 🙏😊 Honestly, you won't want to leave 😁 A.nativel

We were passing through Carmaux and stopped at the hotel. Our room was spacious, and the owner was so friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend it.
