The steam room was intensely hot after a day out, and it left us relaxed and warmed up. The room itself felt huge, with wide ocean views through a large sliding glass door. It was far bigger than suites we've stayed in at other hotels costing four times as much, so the value felt amazing. We were also grateful for how clean it was. I react to mold and dust mites, but had no reaction here, unlike at several other places in France, including well known five-star hotels. We came during the winter solstice and were welcomed warmly at check-in. The receptionist was genuinely enthusiastic and shared tips on local hidden gems, including the lively market. When we came back excited with fresh oysters, she took our request for a knife to Chef Bruno at the on-site restaurant. He shucked them, arranged them on seaweed with sliced lemon, and brought elegant utensils, all at no charge. It turned our impromptu lunch into a lovely seaside feast. Her care made the stay feel special. The hotel faces the sea, and the beach was great for a run. For the price, the amenities, service and views felt hard to beat. This cosy retreat let us breathe in the salty air, unwind and feel peaceful again.

Our room looked clean but smelled bad. On arrival we were asked for a €90 deposit, which hadn't been mentioned when booking. The daytime receptionist was friendly, though disappointingly so. She admitted with a smile that she'd only activated our room card for the first night, even though we'd booked two. After it stopped working on the second night, I had to go back to reception to get it reactivated. It was annoying, and after reading other comments I understood why it had only been set for one night. We hadn't wanted to stay two nights, but our next stop was hours away. We paid extra for one large bed in a room with no option for two singles, but got two single beds pushed together. Loud music from the bar below continued until 01:30 and came through the closed shutters and doors, louder than the TV. There was no way to sleep. When we called reception about the noise, they dismissed us and did nothing. There were no towels at the spa. Reception said we had to use our room towels. The spa was open from 11:00 to 17:00, and the jacuzzi was cold. It was so heavily treated with chemicals that my eyes burned just being in the same room. The outlets on either side of the bed wouldn't charge anything, though one could power a bedside lamp.

My aunt had recommended this hotel, but it was a disappointment after a change of owner. I left after one night, yet they charged me for the full reservation, 1200 euros for that single night. The room was rented to another guest the same day, which seems like good business for the hotel. The reception experience was unpleasant. The lift was just about usable for luggage, and the corridors were dark and smelly. The room felt cheap, with mattresses from WWII. The terrace was dirty, the bathtub had no shower curtain, the safe didn't work, and there was lots of noise at night. Parking was super expensive for a small space in the courtyard.

The receptionist, who was also the owner, was unpleasant and unprofessional. Booking.com said there was no need to reserve parking, but on arrival we were told we should have called ahead to book a space. Then they told us to hurry, unpack and move the car because other guests were arriving, even though we were guests too. You'd be better off in a tent on the beach than at this hotel.

The room was clean, and we got a nice welcome at reception. A very nice hotel right on the beachfront. Everything was perfect.
