Camping le Dolmen

A nice campsite between Carnac and La Trinité sur mer, with easy cycling to both towns. The showers, toilets and washing up area were all clean. Getting to the pitches is quite tight, and it’s a squeeze with a big unit. The 10amp electricity fluctuates.

The pool was good, and we had it to ourselves. The toilet and shower block was clean, but several toilets had no seat, and there’s no toilet roll in the cubicles. The dispenser is outside, so remember to take some in with you. There’s no hand soap either, so bring your own. There were only two drinking water points, nowhere near our pitch. It’s a decent campsite, though it seems to cater mostly for static, possibly privately owned units.

We’ve travelled all over France with our family for the last ten years, and we all agree this is the friendliest, most welcoming campsite we’ve visited. We first stayed here in 2016 for a week in our camper, then came back last year in a mobile home. We intend to return again this year. The people are super nice, and I highly recommend it. The campsite was quiet, and the showers and toilets were clean, but there was no toilet paper and no bins in the cubicles. Our arrival was a very unpleasant experience. We were hiking with a tent and got there in the evening after reception had closed. We put up the tent and planned to pay in the morning, which seemed normal to us since we’d never had trouble doing that at other campsites. Just as we were going to sleep, the owner(?) came over and told us to leave, in a way that wasn’t exactly calm. After quite a discussion, they let us stay the night and charged us 30€, about 1,20€ more than the usual fee. The whole thing felt tense, and we didn’t feel welcome at all. I wouldn’t recommend it for hikers or anyone looking for relaxed, accommodating staff.
