Le Chateau de Maubreuil

The venue has such a chic feel, and we really enjoyed the delicious full course meal, lovely cocktail, and amazing wines. I highly recommend the restaurant and can't wait to return to try the spa and hotel. It's only a 15 minute drive from downtown Nantes if you want a real castle experience.

After a 13-hour flight and a 3-hour train ride, we found this a sophisticated, restful break, and we'll come back. The castle and its architecture, interior design, and art collections are gorgeous. Our bedroom, the Île Sacrée Miyajima bleu et gold symphony, had an outside balcony and intimate decor, and was superb. Everyone was smiling, helpful, courteous, and perfect in their service. I did expect someone at a 5-star hotel to offer to take our suitcases from the car, but no one did. The restaurant cuisine wasn't really my cup of tea, though it was clearly very updated, with great service and quality ingredients. Breakfast and its buffet were very high quality. It isn't cheap, but that was expected for the 5-star ranking and the beauty of our stay.

The staff were extremely helpful and polite, and breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had a good assortment. We absolutely loved staying here. The architecture is amazing, and the quirky furnishings are gorgeous. Highly recommended.

My in-laws had enjoyed the weekday lunch service, so we tried the Saturday brunch, but it left us disappointed. There was seafood and a mix of hot and cold choices, though nothing really stood out. Most dishes came as finger food, which isn't really my thing for brunch, but it works if you want to try everything. The desserts were mostly out of chocolate, though they also had pies and crepes.
