Les Jardins de Cassis - Parking Jacuzzi Piscine Chauffée

The room was just okay, but at the price point in Cassis, that’s a reasonable expectation. On-site parking was a plus. The grounds are beautiful, with mature trees and lush landscaping, and in summer you can hear the cicadas. The pool sits nicely among the gardens, and the breakfast buffet was complete, with lovely outdoor seating. We liked being outside the busy town center. Walking in for dinner and back each day wasn’t a problem. The staff were all welcoming, helpful, and very nice.

The owner was kind and supportive, and took our request seriously. That was different from the assistant at reception, who replied, “No, she will not do,” when I asked if she could check something about my booking. I hope the owner can talk to her, because things are easier to solve when people treat each other respectfully. The pool had been filled with fresh water, so it was very cold and unheated on the first day. By the following day it was fine, so that wasn’t an issue after that. Still, it’s not great that pool towels aren’t provided, not even one set. The room was clean and the AC worked well, but we missed having an electric kettle and a small fridge.

The pool area was in very good condition, though opening the umbrellas could be dangerous when the wind got heavy. We didn’t have breakfast, since there’s an excellent bakery just a three-minute walk away. The staff were friendly and professional, and our room was spacious and clean. One of the best three-star hotels we stayed at on this trip. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into downtown, but the way back is a steep uphill climb of around 30 minutes. In 30-degree heat, that could be tough for some people.

We can’t recommend this place. At night there were parties and loud shouting in the hallways, making it nearly impossible to sleep. The cleanliness and condition were also awful. There was dirt in the corners, inside the room cabinet, and under the sink, including sand and even toenails from the previous guest. The sheets were stained, the bathroom wall had holes with cheap-looking patches, and many appliances were broken or damaged. There were cobwebs around the outdoor pool shower. Half the umbrellas were broken and hanging at odd angles that didn’t look safe in the wind. The pool had leaves and insects on the surface and floor, which can happen in summer, but we didn’t see staff clean it for half a day, even though it would only take a few minutes. The pool is there, but they don’t provide towels. They offer to sell them for €15, which feels like a cheap way to save money. Who brings pool towels on vacation? The whole hotel feels worn out, cheap, dirty, and a bit sketchy. It needs a complete overhaul. Staff experiences varied a lot. The man who greeted us at reception just marked a few restaurants on a map without explaining anything, and didn’t make us feel welcome. Another receptionist was attentive, cleaned our room again after we complained, and apologized deeply. She seemed uncomfortable about the situation too. I’d only consider staying if I got a bargain at €50 a night, and then for one night at most. Bring your own towels.
