Château de Mayragues

Duncan made our visit to Chateau de Mayragues memorable for both the mind and palate. In the bright, new tasting room overlooking the vines, he explained everything simply and engagingly, from biodynamic work in the vineyard and winery to the everyday realities of life at Chateau. It's a beautiful place, and a wonderful introduction to fine, natural wines.

Breakfast was a lovely spread of pastries and fresh yogurt, and Galliac is just 15 minutes away, with plenty of restaurants and amenities. The rooms are on the top floor, with no elevator and steep stairs, though there are landings. In return, you get territorial views in every direction, and you can walk all around the top-floor gallery. The accommodation is lovely, with friendly English-speaking hosts and a winery and tasting room on site. Their wine is served at many local restaurants. The gardens are peaceful, with a walking path to the Vineyard and down to a seasonal stream and stone bridge, though parts of the path are steep. Rooms have Wifi, and the modern bathrooms have great water pressure and hot water. It's an easy day trip to the area's castles and fortifications.

A historical farm that looks like it's from the movies, with wonderful people and great biological wine. You can sit, taste and buy unique wine, and take in the beautiful farm. There are guest rooms too. A must-visit! Thank you, Darken, and Geddes family.

Our group of 13 colleagues came from London to visit vineyards in the south of France, and the stop at this Chateau was one of the trip's highlights. The owner was a great guy, the Chateau is beautifully preserved, and the wine is great. Highly recommended.
