La Bastide Des Pins

Laurent has plenty of tourist information, and the kitchen is available if you want to cook for yourself. We were cycle touring and could store our bikes securely. The wonderful old pine trees made us love the place so much that we added an extra day. Our room was lovely and the bed extremely comfortable. The food was delicious, and Elisa and Laurent went out of their way to cater for me gluten free. They're warm, helpful hosts. A perfect base for visiting the Pont du Gard and the surrounding area.

For two weeks, our family of two adults and two children, aged 12 and 8, stayed in the self-catering gite and had a wonderful holiday. Jerome and Anna were such thoughtful hosts and did everything they could to make us comfortable. The pool area was ideal for relaxing, and a quiet pedestrian track led to the Gardon river, just 50 metres away. There were pebble beaches, safe places to swim and rocks to jump from. Pont du Gard was a 20-minute walk. The gite was clean, with a hot, powerful shower and a well-equipped kitchen: dishwasher, fridge-freezer, hob and combi oven. We used it as a base for Uzes, 15 minutes away, Arles, 35 minutes, Avignon, 30 minutes, Nimes, 40 minutes, and the beach at Espiguette, an hour's drive. There are also lots of vineyards and olive oil producers nearby where you can taste local produce. A perfect base for a family holiday.

There are plenty of walks nearby, from rocky ravines to longer routes, and the river is about 100 metres down the lane. It's usually clear and slow moving, with fish and other wildlife. You can paddle downstream to the local town or head upstream to the famous Roman aqueduct at Pont du Gard. Uzes is about a 10-minute drive and known for black truffles, though I couldn't find any myself, Westdorsetforager. You can also look for fossils. The area has vineyards, locally pressed olive oil, fresh fruit and vegetables, and lots of great meat and cheese. Expect to gain a few pounds! The large pool sits in a peaceful, secluded setting. Our accommodation was spotless, and Jerome and Anna were fantastic, down-to-earth hosts who care about getting things right. Thanks, Bastide des Pins - Pont du Gard, for an amazing stay. We went home relaxed and rejuvenated. Well worth a family visit or a break.

We felt very welcome thanks to Elisa and Laurent, who were excellent hosts. Their place is close to the region's main attractions. We'd definitely return and explore more of the area.
