Manoir de Rétival

The ten-course menu was a whole sensory journey, with a wonderful roller-coaster of flavours. We especially enjoyed having the meal in the kitchen. It was impressive to watch everyone work so well together, and Evan went out of his way to make us happy. Most wines come in magnum bottles, which was a pleasant twist and will put some minds at ease. We spent Easter weekend at Manoir de Rétival, and the owner and chef, David, is what makes the place special. He brings skill and experience together with real passion. We got a very warm welcome. Our room was lovely and spacious, with thoughtful details, a terrace, and a very comfortable bed. The place balances comfort and class while still feeling down-to-earth. Good food is never far, and there are lovely forest walks nearby. Caudebec-en-Caux has enough variety for a walk or two as well. If you want to treat yourself, pleasantly surprise your partner, or make a stopover special, look no further.

We sat in the kitchen, met some wonderful people, and it almost felt like a dream. The atmosphere was cozy, authentic, and above all, extremely warm. The staff were competent and polite, and the place itself is charming. My wife and I stayed the night at Manoir de Retival, and loved every minute of an experience we’ll never forget. The food was so good that words like “fantastic” and “wonderful” don’t do it justice. Chef David Görne and his talented team were simply amazing. I can’t think of praise that feels big enough for the meal and the whole experience. Thank you all for a lifetime memory. I hope my wife and I are lucky enough to come back and see you again.

A lovely setting and a delicious meal, with an experience worth savouring. I’ve eaten in plenty of places, but only a few times with a real chef who’s so excited to share what he creates.

There’s no menu here. Just let the chef tickle your tastebuds. This was truly one of the most incredible meals we’ve ever had.
