We had a great experience here. After a lovely breakfast, Frederick suggested which route we should take to our next destination. The room was nicely appointed, with a comfortable, warm bed and a wooden bathtub with a marble base made in Estonia. On a cold, windy night, we were welcomed into Frederick's living and dining area, where a fire was blazing. The huge room had a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree and tasteful decorations. Frederick also made a dinner reservation for us at a local restaurant. We stayed on 14 December 2018.

We had to leave the accommodation we'd originally booked urgently because of a situation, so we contacted Hotel d'Alibert. Frédéric welcomed us and rented us a room at very short notice. He was warm and helpful. The building and room are clean and tidy, and retain their beautiful original style. We highly recommend this hotel.

The medieval building and its lovely decor are such a treat that the ambience alone deserves more than five stars. The food is seasonal, classic and solid, and it's excellent value too. I really can't wait to return.

There are great walks and sights nearby, and Carcassonne is only about 20 minutes away, so this makes a nice base away from the busier tourist towns. The old building has loads of character, and the restaurant is a good choice for a special dinner, run by a friendly, laid-back French man who speaks excellent English. There's a small grocery across the street for picnic food if you're not up for a full French meal twice in a row. Don't hesitate, book it.
