Le Domaine de la Baie 24095

The site and its location were great, and the staff were friendly and kept an eye on the rules. We stayed in July in our campervan. A few things brought it down from a five: none of the toilets had seats, which seemed odd, and the shower block at our end only ran cold. The hot showers were about 100 metres away, but still. There was just one bin area by reception, with none in the washrooms, toilets, or dishwashing area. A good site, though it could have been amazing.

The pitches are roomy, with lovely tall trees for shade that didn't get in the way of our motorhome. The pool and Jacuzzi were clean, warm, and seemed to have been repainted, and the loungers were new. We were unsure about coming after reading some reviews, but we're glad we did. The showers are old and the tiles are cracked, though the water was piping hot. There was water aerobics three times a week, plus other activities. Reception was all right, if not very forthcoming, but they did smile. The shop owner was super friendly and baked fresh pasties. It felt like a traditional French campsite with a nice atmosphere. They were doing a lot of cleaning while we were there, and there were signs of some investment. The showers do need an upgrade. We'd come back.

We spent 12 nights here and had a lovely stay. The pool was warm and pleasant, and the staff helped when we needed them. Our pitch was a reasonable size, with trees giving good shade from the midday heat. The beach is a short walk away; Carrefour and Aldi are one way, Intermarché Express the other, with plenty of local patisseries and delis for supplies. The big local market on Wednesday was fantastic. The toilets and showers badly need updating, even though cleaners were around often. A nice site, and it would be better with upgraded facilities. Thanks for a lovely stay.

A bad campsite. The staff aren't always friendly, and the roads aren't good for kids. Cars are still driving around at 11 p.m. WiFi is free for only 30 minutes a day; with the paid subscription, you get 3G super speed for a week. Don't expect to get work done or send pictures to friends.
