Le Rouzet

Cazouls has everything you need locally and makes a great base for exploring Beziers and the wider region. James and Alex know the area inside out, with plenty of amusing and interesting stories to share. Somehow, they even arranged perfect weather! The converted barn was just right for our Yoga retreat, and the salt water pool was great for an afternoon dip. We could choose to dine inside or out, in sun or shade, and the meals were beautifully prepared, with home grown figs, olives and local wines. James and Alex were perfect hosts, and the comfortable, attractive accommodation exceeded expectations in every respect. We’ll remember Le Rouzet with great affection until next time. The hosts at Le Rouzet made everyone feel at ease and deeply welcome, as though nothing was too much trouble. They shared generous amounts of home grown produce, olives from the lovely old oak tree in the courtyard where we sat for aperitifs, and even their own wine. Meals were delicious and thoughtfully put together for days full of yoga, light and easy to digest. One lunch that really stayed with me was a salad served under the trees, looking out toward towns perched on the hills. Our retreat brought together art and yoga, and Le Rouzet was just right for it. The restored old barn studio is peaceful, beautiful and calm, with wonderful acoustics and plenty of room for our group. There were also lots of lovely spots to paint nearby. The house has a quiet, elegant charm, with spacious, light filled rooms, comfy beds, a fabulous staircase and original fixtures. Everything was there for a proper rest, including a particularly spoiling salt water pool in the walled garden and lovely places to eat outdoors. Walking through the gorgeous white door into the courtyard felt like the whole place was wrapping its arms around us. You can just slow down here. I can’t recommend Le Rouzet highly enough. James and Alex run Le Rouzet and were perfect hosts, with delicious meals to go with the stay. I had a truly memorable week of yoga in the lovely studio and painting in and around Le Rouzet. The house was very comfortable, the surroundings were lovely, and the interesting art works made it a perfect setting.

James knows the area well, is helpful, and makes excellent food. The facilities are great, especially the lovely salt water swimming pool, and it’s a beautiful location. James and Alex also create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that I loved.
